The Birth of Hurry Curry

Hurry Curry started with Joel Curry needing work.

Joel is a husband and a father, and he holds a conviction that a Christian man provides for his family — not eventually, not in theory, but this month. So when his work slowed down and the opportunities thinned out, the question in front of him wasn’t philosophical. It was what to do about December.

Christmas lighting answered it in a way not much else would have. It was a real need — plenty of people on the Lakeshore want their house lit and have no interest in being on a ladder in a Michigan winter to do it. And it was the rare kind of work where doing the job well and doing something good for the people around you turn out to be the same act. Joel could provide for his household by making his neighbors’ street a little better to drive down in the darkest six weeks of the year.

That’s still what this is.

The work

We design the display, custom-cut commercial-grade LED lines to your rooflines, install them with weather-tested clips, service them through the season, take them down when it’s over, and store them labelled so next year goes up faster than this one did.

And increasingly, we don’t take anything down at all. Joel has been expanding — slowly and deliberately — into permanent outdoor lighting: low-profile LED systems installed once and left in place, warm white most of the year, holiday color when you want it, all run from your phone. Same values, same phone number, no ladder in January.
