Christmas Light Removal and Off-Season Storage
The install is the part people picture. Removal is the part that decides how next year goes.
Every Christmas job here ends the same way. The lights come off the house, the clips come off with them, each run is labeled for the section it came from, and it goes into storage instead of into a bin in your garage. It is one of the five steps in the job, not a call you have to chase in February.

Nothing stays on the house over the summer — not a clip, not a length of line, not a hook. A clip left on the shingle edge for eight months is a clip that fails in year two.

Roofline, garage, columns, trees. Each run is tagged for the elevation it came off, because a run cut for your north gable fits nothing else.

Organized off-season storage is one of the five things a Christmas job with us covers, so the boxes do not spend the summer in your garage.

The set already fits your house. Next year's install starts from measured line instead of a tape measure and a ladder.
Why it comes down in January.
Takedown starts in January, once the season is genuinely over and before the freeze-and-thaw cycle has spent two more months working at every clip on the roof. Line that stays up through spring is line that has been pulled on for an extra hundred days.
We work weather windows rather than fixed dates. A thaw week is worth more than a calendar square, and we would sooner move a day than put someone on a roof with ice on it. If your date moves, you will hear why from the same phone number you booked on.
What we will not do in January.
- Walk a roof we judge unsafe. Ice changes what is walkable, and a January roof is not a November roof. If a section has to wait for conditions, it waits, and we tell you.
- Leave hardware behind. Clips come off with the line. A clip left on the shingle edge for eight months is a clip that fails in year two, and it is your roof it fails on.
- Repair what we find. If a gutter has pulled or a fascia board has gone soft over the winter, you will hear about it from us — and then you will need somebody else to fix it.

When exactly do the lights come down?
Takedown starts in January and runs on weather windows rather than fixed dates. If ice makes a roof unsafe on the day you were scheduled, the day moves and you hear why from the same number you booked on.
Do the clips come off as well?
All of them. Nothing overwinters on your shingles — not a clip, not a hook, not a length of line. A clip left in place through spring and summer is the one that lets go on you in year two, and it is your roof it lets go on.
Why does labeled storage matter?
Because every line was custom-cut to your house. Labeled by section, the same set goes back up the following November against measurements that already fit, instead of being re-measured and re-cut from a ladder in the cold.
