Muskegon
≈93 in. snow per yearThe oldest and most varied housing stock on the Lakeshore, under about ninety-three inches of snow a year.
Eighteen-eighties Queen Annes, brick four-squares, post-war ranches and lakefront elevations, often inside a few blocks of each other. It is the reason a Muskegon quote gets built elevation by elevation instead of off a floor plan.

Norton Shores
Post-war + 1960s ranch stockLong, low rooflines, and a western edge with nothing between it and the lake.
Post-war and 1960s ranch, Mona Lake frontage, and the dune edge by P. J. Hoffmaster State Park. The design problem is horizontal. The installation problem is wind. And the Henry and Harvey corridors put commercial work ahead of residential in the fall.

Grand Haven
Historic district listed 2016Two towns in one: an 1890s historic district and a dune corridor taking wind straight off Lake Michigan.
The Washington Avenue district went on the National Register in 2016. Three miles west, Lakeshore Drive is modern glass on deep dune lots. Precision at one end of town, weather at the other, and a permit question before any permanent work downtown.

Every community below is on the service list and we work in all of them. None has a page yet, and that is on purpose: a city page here has to carry a fact that would be wrong on another city's page. Until it does, it would just be this page with the nouns swapped, which is the exact thing the rest of this category does.
Spring Lake
The village sits on a peninsula between Spring Lake and the Grand River, water on effectively three sides. On a waterfront lot the display is read twice — from the street and from across the water, doubled in the reflection — and the elevation nobody lights is the one half the neighborhood can see. Docks, seawalls and deck perimeters turn it into something other than a roofline job. That is a page one day. It is not a page until there is a Spring Lake install on it.
Holland
Holland has four local historic districts plus the National Register commercial district along Eighth Street and River Avenue, so permanent exterior work starts with a permit question rather than a ladder. Downtown also runs the largest publicly owned snowmelt system in the country, which deletes the one variable every other December install has to plan around. Both facts are worth a page. Neither is worth a page written before there is a Holland job on it.
