Minleon makes a permanent exterior lighting system sold through the trade rather than off a shelf. It does not arrive as one box. It arrives as parts — light strands, rigid channel, brackets, covers, spacer cables, a power supply and a controller — which is a slower way to buy lighting and a considerably better way to build it.
We started recommending it after installing one. The difference that matters is structural: the light line seats into a rigid channel fixed to the building, rather than being stuck to the building itself.
We also install Govee, we install Govee kits our customers bought themselves, and we will keep doing both. This page exists because the two systems are aimed at different buyers, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.

What Minleon publishes about the hardware
Every specification below is Minleon's own, taken from their product documentation. We have not bench-tested any of it, and we are not going to pretend we have.
A rigid channel, not a strip of tape
Minleon supplies a u-channel track in UV-coated PVC, sold in three-foot sections and stocked in white, sand, brown, grey and black so it can be matched to the fascia rather than announced against it. The track clips into a bracket or mounts on its own. This is the part that changes the job: the light line is held by something rigid that is fixed to the house, instead of being the thing fixed to the house.
Nodes at a published spacing
Minleon lists its Pebble lights at twelve-inch spacing on a four-pin connector. A published spacing matters more than it sounds like it should — it means the run can be measured against your actual roofline before anything is ordered, and it means the line reads evenly across corners and returns instead of drifting.
A dedicated white diode
Minleon states that its RGBW+2 chipset carries a dedicated 3000K white diode alongside red, green and blue, rather than mixing white from the three color channels. If you care about the three hundred ordinary nights more than the twenty festive ones, this is the specification to ask about, because everyday warm white is what the system is doing almost all of the time.
Runs built from parts, not cut from a reel
Strands come in assorted lengths and are joined with spacer cables and T-connectors, with covers over the joins. It means a run can be composed to the elevation — lit where you want light, spaced across a gap you do not want lit — rather than the elevation being adapted to whatever length the box contained.
Twenty-four volt power
Minleon's permanent range runs at 24 volts, with power supplies offered in a range of wattages and a transformer supplied in the control kit. Sizing the supply to the run is a design decision made before installation, not a thing discovered at the end of it.
The WEC3 controller and its app
Control is handled by Minleon's WEC3 family — Mini, Dual Port and Boss — through a free RGB+WEC3 app on iOS and Android. Minleon states the controller connects to your router for remote access, supports scheduling, and can group and sync multiple units on the same network, which is what a larger property or an outbuilding needs.

We have completed one Minleon installation and we have not yet photographed it properly. Rather than fill this space with the manufacturer's product renders or with our Christmas work implying a job it was not, we have left it empty and said so. Day and night shots of that elevation, the channel detail at the soffit, and the app in use will replace this block as soon as they exist.
Minleon and Govee, honestly
We install both, so there is nothing for us to win by mischaracterising either. Manufacturer specifications are attributed; anything we could not verify is simply not in the table.

Where the sales pitch is wrong
You will read that professional systems do not rely on adhesive and consumer systems do. That is not accurate, and we would rather you heard it here. Minleon's own track ships with factory-applied two-sided 3M tape and their instructions call for cleaning the surface with denatured alcohol first. The real difference is what the adhesive is holding: a rigid channel that can also be bracketed and mechanically fastened, rather than the light line itself. Surface preparation still decides whether either system survives a Michigan thaw.
What the system is actually doing most nights
Addressable nodes mean any of these from the same run, with no ladder and nothing swapped out. The first row is the one that earns the money.

What we have actually done with it
One installation. That is the whole record, and we are not going to dress it up as a specialism. What we bring to a Minleon job is the same thing we bring to every other one: measured elevations, prepared surfaces, cable kept out of the sight line, and power terminated somewhere sensible. We are not claiming a dealership, a certification or a decade with the product, because we do not have any of those.
Which one we would tell you to buy
Five situations and five straight answers. Three of them do not end with you buying Minleon.

Minleon installation, answered
- Is Minleon better than Govee?
- It is built differently and sold differently, and on a house you intend to keep, the rigid channel is a real advantage. It is not a reason to throw away a Govee kit you already own. We install both and we will tell you honestly which one your house and your budget point at.
- How long does a Minleon system last?
- We are not going to quote you a lifespan. Minleon markets the range for year-round four-season use, but we have not published rated hours, an ingress rating or a warranty term because we have not confirmed them in writing. Ask on the call and you will get whatever we can actually document.
- Can I buy Minleon myself and have you fit it?
- Ask us before you buy anything. Minleon sells through distributors and dealers and the range is componentised, so an order placed without a measured elevation behind it tends to arrive missing the parts that matter. A short conversation first saves a return.
- Are you a Minleon dealer?
- No, and we are not going to imply otherwise. We have installed the product and we rate it. Where the hardware comes from for your job is a straightforward question we will answer on the phone.
- Does the controller need wifi?
- Minleon states that the WEC3 controller connects to your router for remote access, and that scheduling and grouping multiple controllers happen over that network. If your roofline is a long way from the house, that is worth raising at the site visit rather than on install day.
- What does it cost?
- It is quoted per system after the elevations are measured, exactly like every other permanent job we do. The eight hundred dollar figure published elsewhere on this site is a seasonal Christmas install-and-teardown number and has nothing to do with this.
